A directional light, used in computer graphics, 3D rendering, and simulations, simulates the effect of light coming from a distant source with parallel rays. Unlike point lights or spotlights, which emit light from a specific location or direction, a directional light emits parallel rays in a specific direction, similar to sunlight.

How does it work?

A directional light emits parallel light rays from an infinitely distant source. Its uniformity, unchanging intensity with distance, and ability to cast shadows make it a versatile tool. It is used to simulate natural lighting conditions and create realistic visual effects in computer graphics and 3D rendering.

How do you add a Directional light to the 3D scene?

  1. Click the 'Add elements' button in the top left corner.
  2. Hover over the 'Basic' section in the popup to open another one.
  3. In the new popup, you should see a section for 'Lights'.
  4. Click the 'Directional Light' element to add it to the 3D scene..
